Tamatie Lensie-sop

2 x groot blikke (450g) geblikte tamatie
1 ½ k rooi lensies
500 g pampoen met skil of die pakke klaar gesnyde pompoen
2 groot uie
4 huisies knoffel-gepars of fyb gekap- laat staan vir 10 minute en roer by net voor jy die sop verpulp
1 ½ liter water
1 rooi chillie
1 groot soetrissie optioneel
1 - 2 eetlepels kappertjiesaad ( capers) (opsioneel)
2 eetlepels ghee of botter
2 eetlepels olyfolie
2 eetlepels tamatie puree
2 eetlepels paprika

Handvol vars tiemie of oreganum vir bediening

Roerbraai uie en rooi soetrissie en al die speserye in die olie/botter. Voeg die tamatie, kappertjiesade, soetrissie, water, lensies en pampoen by en prut vir ongeveer 45 minute. Verpulp. Voeg sout en knoffel by.

Bedien met vars gekapte kruie.

Opsioneel: Roerbraai 3 - 4 repies maar spek of ’n 10 cm stuk chorizo word in wielietjies genst saam met die uie vir ’n ander smaak. Jou ‘blender’ moet dan echter baie sterk wees anders het die sop stukkies.

Tomato Red Lentil Soup

2 tins tomato (2 x 450g)
1 ½ cup red lentils
500 g pumpkin with skin or ready cut pumpkin
2 large onions
4 cloves garlic pressed or cut finely - leave to stand for 10 minutes before using adding it just before you blend the soup
1 ½ litres water
1 red chilli
1 large red sweet pepper (optional)
1 - 2 tbs capers (optional)
2 tbsp butter /ghee
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp tomato puree
2 tbsp paprika

Hand full fresh oregano or thyme to serve.

Fry the onion and red sweet pepper and all the spices in the oil/ghee mix. Add tomato, lentils, pumpkin capers, water and leave to cook on a low heat for about 45 minutes. Blend and then add the garlic and salt to taste.

Serve with fresh herbs.

Optional extras: Fry 3-4strips of back bacon or 10 cm piece of chorizo sausage with the onion/sweet pepper if your blender is strong enough to pulp this as well. It’s not nice if the meat makes bits in the soup.
